As a leading news provider, + The Express-Times strongly believe in the power of journalism to connect our communities, encourage discourse and drive positive change.

We are advocates of the News Media Alliance “Support Real News” campaign and the organization’s ongoing efforts to promote the role of quality, investigative journalism in the fight against the rise of fake news.

The News Media Alliance defines fake news as the “deliberate spreading of information that is not true, with the intent to lead consumers to false and potentially harmful conclusions.”

Real news is made possible in part by our First Amendment right to a free press, which is now in jeopardy. There have been recent examples of journalists being denied press access to important events, which is in direct violation of the Constitution. We call on our readers to support a free press and fight for press access. Without it, trustworthy & results-driven journalism will disappear.
